Not decided whether or not to hike rates in September – Fed Governor Powell

FXStreet (Mumbai) - Speaking to CNBC “Squawk Box” on Wednesday, Federal Reserve (Fed) Governor Jerome Powell noted that there is nothing decided whether or not Fed would hike rates in September.

He further added that Fed must wait and see economic data before making decision on Sept rates lift-off.

Fed voting-member Powell noted 'Time is clearly coming' to raise rates; economic tests still need to be met.”

Mr. Powell’s comments comes a day after Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart, also a Fed voting member, indicated support for a rate hike at next month.

The European stocks rose on Wednesday on the back of strong quarterly corporate earning and robust service sector data out of China.
